Steve Jobs, medeoprichter en CEO van Apple, is gisteren overleden.Dat heeft Apple op zijn eigen website laten weten.
Jobs had de laaste jaren vaker problemen met zijn gezondheid.
In 2004 werd hij al eens behandeld voor alvleesklierkanker en in 2009 was hij langere tijd met ziekteverlof en onderging hij een levertransplantatie.
In augustus van dit jaar stapte hij definitief terug als CEO en droeg hij zijn taken over aan Tim Cook.
Over de precieze doodsoorzaak hebben Apple en de famile van Jobs zich niet uitgelaten.
In een speech in 2005 sprak Jobs eens over zijn eigen sterfelijkheid:
"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true."
